Soundtrack of the States

When you are a history and a music lover, there is nothing better than a song that mentions one of the fifty states. These songs are fun to sing along and take on roadtrips. While watching ABC’s “Countdown to the CMA Awards,” the idea of why not write a post about the different songs popped into my head. So, here are my favorite state songs.

  • “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynrd
  • “California Girls” by The Beach Boys
  • “Midnight Train to Georgia” by Gladys Knights and the Pips
  • “Georgia on my Mind” by Willie Nelson
  • “Blue Hawaii” by Elvis Presley
  • “Wichita Lineman” by Glenn Campbell
  • “Cross Road Blues” by Robert Johnson
  • “Viva Las Vegas” by Phil Cody
  • “Carolina in my Mind” by James Taylor
  • “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver

Now, all we have to do is download the tunes and hit the road, jack!
